Lucy van Oldenbarneveld is the host of CBC Ottawa News.
Her work has been recognized with a Canadian Screen Award nomination, a Gemini nomination and the Gold World Medal for Best Talk / Interview program at the New York Festival. In 2012, she won the prestigious Founder’s Award at the Yorkton Film Festival for her work as co-producer and co-director for the documentary film North Boys. Lucy volunteers her talents by teaching in Africa: training journalist for organizations such as the News Agency of Nigeria and the National University in Rwanda, and teaching critical thinking young women in Lesotho.
Accustomed to working in high pressure situations, Lucy is a master at thinking on her feet, reading her audience and adapting her tone and style as is required. She is known for her easy sense of humour and her natural curiosity only adds to her gift of connecting with her audience.
